If you are water sports lover and are the adventurous type and want to spend your summer in the water, then wakeboarding is simply the perfect sport for you. Though this particular sport is rather new it has been well accepted and has also gained popularity within a very short period. This sport includes wakeboards and wake-ropes. The length of the wakeboard varies between 120 and 150 centimeters and the width ranges between 40 and 45 centimeters.

Various kinds of wakeboards:

If you are a beginner then you should start with longer wakeboards that come with square edges or square rails. These kinds of wakeboards are much more stable and trouble-free to control, whereas it is much easier to land with the round-edged wakeboards. Being round edged, these wakeboards allows you to gather speed much conveniently. They also provide quicker lifts during air tricks.

Some of the wakeboard riders also take the fins, rockers, design and the bindings of the board into consideration. The main function of the binding, which is also known as the boots, is to provide a secure attachment to the boards. These bindings also provide a comfortable support for your ankle as well as for your heel.

Wakeboard Ropes:

The ropes used for wakeboarding generally vary in length and elasticity. The normal length of a wake-rope ranges between 60 and 70 feet. Some of them are one-piece that come without any length adjustments, whereas others come with additional adjustment loops.

Wakeboard Towers:

These days, most of the wake boards come with wakeboard towers. In such boards the rope is s mounted on this tower, instead of being tied on the back of the boat. The length of the tower is usually 2 to 3 meters from the water level. These wakeboard towers help the riders to achieve a better pull and stability as well as allow them to gain more height while performing air tricks. They further provide supplementary space wakeboard speakers, for wakeboard racks, and lights.

Wakeboard Accessories:

There are several wakeboard accessories easily available in the market. These accessories add extra color and glamour to your wakeboards. You can attach wakeboard speakers to the towers which can be utilized to play music as well as to give instructions to the riders. You can also get waterproof covers for your wakeboard speakers. Wakeboard lights are in fact necessary if you want to show off your skills at night. Most of the handles come with rubber padding as they need to be comfortable to hold on. For the beginners it is essential to use wakeboard helmets for additional safety.

Tips for buying wakeboards:

• Before buying your own wakeboard study about them as much as possible. The boards and the equipments differ by levels of experience.
• Always consider your level of wakeboarding for your safety purpose.
• Get your bindings as well since most of them come without one.

Why it is important that a wakeboard floats?

Floating or buoyancy is a physics term that essentially means that the density and volume of an object placed in a fluid create a situation in which the object does not sink. Neutral buoyancy occurs when the objects mass is equal to the volume of the fluid displaced. Wakeboard construction has evolved over the past several years since its introduction as a sport in the early 1980’s. The first wakeboards were essentially just downsized surfboards that were designed to float on top of moving water. These old style wakeboards were difficult to master and inhibited many athletes from attempting the sport. Late in the 1980’s, neutral buoyancy wakeboards were introduced. Neutral buoyancy boards neither floats nor sink, which made the addition of bindings or foot attachment feasible. They also made it possible for riders to easily mount the boards while in the water. This development made the sport easier for beginners and more manageable for experienced wakeboarders to perform skilled maneuvers.

The importance of floating is important in several respects. First, of all the wakeboarding is a surface water sport. As silly as it may sound, if the wakeboard sank it would be very difficult to get the board up. If the board sank, you would not be able to stand or maintain your stance on top of the water. Second, wakeboards are attached to the rider through the use of not releasing bindings. A floating or neutrally buoyant board makes it possible for the rider to easily get into position to perform maneuvers. Another aspect important for floating wakeboards is the speed in which the sport takes place. Water skiing generally takes place at speeds of 25 to 30 miles per hour while wakeboarding takes place at speeds of 16 to 23 miles per hour. The slower speed makes it necessary for the object of the sport to float or semi-float whereas in water-skiing, the speed of the boat makes the rider rise up on top of the water. Very experienced wakeboarders sometimes operate at speeds of 23 to 25 miles per hour. Even small variations in the speed of the boat can drastically affect the shape of the wake created. In order to create the maximum wake at the slowest speed possible, special wake attachment or wake boats are available for use in the sport. As with any sport, safety is always an important factor. Wakeboards are specially engineered to ensure the protection and enjoyment of the wakeboard sport.

Wakeboarding is water sport, particularly surface water, which involves wakeboards being ridden as the rider is being towed behind by a boat, especially a wakeboard boat. The sport was born during the latter part of 1980 after ski boarding was introduced as a sport early that year. Paul and Murray Fraser of Canada, along with another skiboarder whom they sponsored, conceptualized and designed the wakeboard, as well as gave it its name.

A wakeboard rack is a necessity for wakeboarders as this would enable them to enjoy their adventures without feeling cramped and cluttered inside the boat. The rack should not only be pleasing to the adventurer’s eye but functional as well. It has to withstand the motion of rough waters in order to ensure that the wakeboards are kept secure. A good wakeboard rack is customized to fit the specifications of the wakeboard boat. It should fit the contours of the boat’s interiors.

A wakeboard rack is a wakeboard accessory as well as a necessity. It can be designed to have rotating capability that would complement the wakeboard towers. A rack could affect the stiffness of the tower, a factor that is necessary to consider when purchasing these accessories, so that a rack needs to be ultra rigid with minimum or zero rattles. It could also be designed to hold a certain number of wakeboards, mounted vertically on the tower or just mounted on the crossbar.

Wakeboard racks are rubber-lined so as to ensure protection from damage. They are designed with a quick release system so that they can be easily removed when needed. They are also designed to be UV and brine water resistant for minimum corrosion effects. It is essential that metals used for the racks are anodized-coated to protect the metal and to achieve a perfect finish.

If you love to spend your vacation in the water and you are the adventurous type, then wakeboarding is just the sport for you. This board sport is relatively new but has gained popularity during the last few years.

In wakeboarding, a boat with a rope tows the rider. The rider rides on a buoyant board, called a wakeboard, and uses the wake to launch himself up into the air and then back into the water. Though this may sound simple, there are quite a few tricks and spins to learn before you can master the sport.

The essentials for wakeboarding are wakeboards and wakeropes. Wakeboard length varies between 120 and 150 centimeters and the wakeboard width is between 40 and 45 centimeters. Beginners should begin with longer wakeboards with square edges or square rails. Square-edged boards are more stable and easier to control, though round-edged boards are easier to land. Round edges also allow boards to easily gain speed, providing quicker lifts during air tricks. Krown, Hyperlite, Liquid Force and CWB are specialized wakeboard manufacturers and their wakeboards cost between $350 to $600.

Experienced wakeboard riders also take into consideration the rockers, fins, bindings and the design of the board. Bindings or boots provide a secure attachment to the boards and should provide a comfortable support for the heel and ankle.

Wakeboard ropes vary in elasticity and length. The length of a wakerope is normally between 60 and 70 feet. They may be one-piece, which does not allow any length adjustments, or may come with adjustment loops. A tighter and stiffer rope allows little stretch and is used to perform air tricks.

Wake boats nowadays come with wakeboard towers. Instead of the rope being mounted on the back of the boat, the rope is mounted on a tower, which is normally 2 to 3 meters from the water level. Wakeboard towers allow a better pull and stability and also enable a rider to gain more air height while performing tricks. The towers also provide additional space for wakeboard racks, wakeboard speakers and lights. Fly High and Skylon are the more established wakeboard tower manufacturers and the price ranges from $900 to more than $2000.

Wakeboard accessories add color to the sport. Wakeboard speakers may be attached to the towers and can be used to play music or to give instructions to the riders, especially beginners. Waterproof covers are also available for the wakeboard speakers. If you want to flaunt your skills at night, then you can also add wakeboard lights. Handles should be comfortable to hold on to and most come with rubber padding. Beginners should also use wakeboard helmets for additional safety. Eye-catching wakeboard apparels are also available with wakeboard dealers.
